Peanut Butter Dog Treats Recipe
Cooking for your dog it not difficult at all as long as you know the basics of cooking a meal. In the book Amazing Gracie: A Dog's Tale, author Dan Dye happens to be a non-cook of the worst kind, yet he teaches himself to cook and within three days begins baking the dog cookies.
He was totally clumsy when it came to cooking. After looking for a doggie cookbook at the bookstore and not finding any, he calls a friend who suggest that he bakes a batch of cookies and just omit the sugar and chocolate. Soon he whips up a batch that he burns beyond recognition. After he shows the “treat” to his dog Gracie who was suffering from digestive problems, and Gracie devours it, then asks for another one, he produced another batch that proved to be a winner.
So I say this : If Dan can do it, so can you. So get out your mixing bowl, your cookie sheets and get ready to create a dog treat your pooch will love.
Here is a simple recipe for peanut butter dog treats:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
1 cup oatmeal (run in food processor until it looks like flour)
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup peanut butter (preferably organic)
Stir everything in a food processor –( If you don’t have food processor, grind the oatmeal in a blender, and mix everything in the bowl with a wooden spoon. )
If mixture too thick add water and mix until smooth. It should be firm but not runny. If it is runny, add some flour.
Place dough by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes
After baking, allow treats to cool and dry for several hours before storing.
